The machine needs at least a 34-inch wide space to move through. Many fence gates are 36-inches wide, and so many times there are no modifications necessary.
How deep will the remaining hole be?
For most stumps, grinding 4 inches down is enough to get the stump and roots. If necessary, the grinder machine can go as deep as 12 inches. Remember: the less deep the hole, the less fill required, and the less landscaping after!
Are there any special preparations for the lawn/surrounding area?
There are no special preparations necessary, so long as there is enough clearance to get to the stump. The treads of the grinder machine are gentle on lawns, and lawn mats can be placed down where necessary.
What size stumps can you grind?
There is generally no maximum size of stump that can be ground. Larger stumps will take longer. For extra large stumps, it may make more sense to get a larger grinder.
